Recent Brandywine graduate Jacob Frazier has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his basketball career at Lincoln Trail Community College in Robinson, Ill.

Frazier, the leading player for the Bobcats the last few years had originally planned to attend Wayne State University in Detroit to play football on a partial scholarship, but a love for basketball and a full scholarship to Lincoln Trail gave him the opportunity to continue playing the game he loves.

“I like playing basketball more than football and they (Lincoln Trail) offered me a full scholarship to come and play basketball,” said Frazier about his decision. “I also think the size of the school is more for me and I will be going with other players from my travel team.”

Frazier has been playing travel ball for the Michiana Thoroughbreds, which is a program created by former Brandywine basketball player Jason Drake to help high school basketball players to better themselves at the game of basketball and to be able to get themselves in front of college coaches.

Since 1994 the program has helped over 600 kids get college scholarships from over 700 schools across the country. Drake’s cousin and another former Bobcat player Corey Richardson joined the staff at Michiana Thoroughbreds four years ago as a trainer and coach to help out with the program.

This year the Thoroughbreds helped to get six players college scholarships. Joining Frazier at Lincoln Trail in the fall will be Angelo Williams, Delvon Brown and T.J Grant all from South Bend Riley.

Lincoln Trail is Division I junior college and is part of a four-college district known as Illinois Eastern Community Colleges.

Their nickname is the Statesmen and former NBA player Chris Whitney came through their program.
