Hover, Riggenbach combine for five goals in Niles win

NILES — Nyla Hover and Amity Riggenbach combined for five goals as host Niles defeated Brandywine 8-1 in non-conference soccer Monday night.

Hover had the hat trick [three goals], while Riggenbach added a pair of goals.

Meadow McFadden, Amelia Florkowski and Claire DevlesHoward also found the back of the net for the Vikings.

Riggenbach and Florkowski also added an assist.

“We played really well as a team tonight,” said Niles Coach Jaycee Myer. “We were able to execute on things we’ve been working on in practice. Great overall win.”

On Saturday, the Vikings went 1-1 at the Chieftain Invitational at Dowagiac.

Niles defeated Dowagiac 3-1 in the opening round, but lost to Our Lady of the Lake in the second round.

The Lakers blanked the Chieftains 2-0 to claim the championship.
