EDWARDSBURG — The Edwardsburg tennis team improved to 2-0 in Wolverine Conference play as the Eddies blanked their second straight opponent.

After shutting out Plainwell 8-0 in the first league match of the season last week, Edwardsburg did the same thing to Three Rivers Monday afternoon.

The win kept the Eddies tied with Otsego, which blanked host Niles Monday, and Sturgis atop the Wolverine Conference standings.

While the singles matches were fairly competitive, Edwardsburg dominated the doubles flights.

Leah Stern, Julia Jones, Julia Lewis and Erin Letter were all winners in the singles flights for the Eddies. Stern needed three sets, while Jones used a first-set tiebreaker to propel her to victory.

In doubles action, Delaney Haradine and Ryleigh Reynolds had the closes doubles match, winning 6-1 and 7-5 over the Wildcats’ Maggie Gose and Jayna Larson.

Mara VanBuren and Veronica Moody, as well as, Libby Fruedenburg and Olivia Closson won their flights in straight sets.
