Roadrunners top Red Hawks, earn home playoff game

DOWAGIAC — The Southwestern Michigan College men’s basketball team not only wrapped up its regular season with a 90-60 Michigan Community College Athletic Association Western Conference win over Lake Michigan College win, but it secured a spot in the postseason.
The Roadrunners qualified for the Great Lakes District C Tournament with the victory over the Red Hawks. Southwestern Michigan will host the opening round Tuesday when it hosts Kellogg Community College at the 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
After a quick start against Lake Michigan College, the Red Hawks were able to rally and tie the score at 35-35 by halftime.
The Roadrunners regrouped at halftime and outscored Lake Michigan 55-25 in the final 20 minutes to earn the victory.
Mari Nichols (Niles) led Southwestern Michigan with 19 points, seven rebound and five steals. The Roadrunners (xx) also got 17 points and eight rebounds from Aries Hull (Chicago), 13 points from Mikel Forrest (Niles) and 11 points from Rodell Davis Jr. (Glenview, Illinois).
