Lanier nets 24 as Chieftains edge Vicksburg

VICKSBURG — The Dowagiac boys basketball team remained atop the Wolverine Conference West Division standings with a 57-50 win over host Vicksburg last Friday night.

The Chieftains improved to 5-4 overall and 3-0 in the West Division as they turned a one-point lead after eight minutes of play into a seven-point victory.

D.J. Lanier continued his scoring spree with another 24-point outburst against the Bulldogs.

Lanier is averaging 18.3 points per game during the Chieftains’ four-game winning streak.

Dowagiac also got nine points from Dashawn Brooks.

The Chieftains hosted Cassopolis in a non-conference contest Tuesday night.
