In the early game, the Chieftain girls’ fell to the Tigers 43-31.

Correshia Rodgers led the Chieftains with 20 points, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough as Blair Arthur dropped 21 for Allegan to lead all scorers.

Dowagiac led 7-6 after one quarter, but was outscored 14-7 in the second quarter to give the Tigers a slim 20-14 lead at halftime.

The Chieftains couldn’t cut into that lead in the third period as three three-point baskets by the Tigers helped increase their lead to 35-24 at the end of three periods.

We are giving good effort. We are not giving up,” Dowagiac coach Emily McLoughlin said. “We are digging ourselves holes, but the girls are continuing to work hard.”

Dowagiac (0-2, 0-2 Wolverine) will play Plainwell on Tuesday.
