Niles Family Pharmacy closes

The Niles Family Pharmacy has filled its last prescription.

Manager Cal Bazzi said the pharmacy closed its doors for good Tuesday evening. It opened in July 2011 at 70 E. Main St., Niles, in Riverfront Plaza.

“We want to thank our patients for remaining loyal and keeping us going as long as long as we did,” Bazzi said. “We are truly sorry. This is a very unfortunate circumstance.

“We didn’t have enough business to sustain and there were some bad decisions made by the opening management that really dug us a hole. We’ve been struggling since then.”

Ashley Flower, spokesperson for Rite Aid, said the Niles Rite Aid acquired the pharmacy files and inventory from Niles Family Pharmacy. That means Niles Family Pharmacy prescription customers are now being served by Rite Aid.

“We are really excited about welcoming those customers to our store,” said Flower. “They will come to our store and be treated as they were at their former pharmacy.”

Flower said Rite Aid made offers to retain Niles Family Pharmacy employees, specifically the pharmacy technicians.

“Some of (the offers) are still pending, while others are confirmed,” Flowers said.

Rite Aid will offer prescription delivery.

Bazzi said Niles Family Pharmacy had five employees.

Niles Rite Aid is located at 11 S. 11th St., Niles. Call them at (269) 684-6556.
