Lest We Forget auditioning for WWII play

BENTON HARBOR — Auditions take place next weekend for this year’s Lest We Forget production, an original play, “Make it Home.”
The production team for the play includes Larry Nielsen, Scott Bradford, Suzanne Thursby, Tami Walton and Marty Golob.
The play will be presented at the Hansen Theatre at Lake Michigan College June 22, 23 and 24.
Auditions will be held:
• April 14, at 1p.m.
• April 15, at 6 p.m.
Both auditions take place at Lake Michigan Catholic Elementary School on Washington Avenue in south St. Joseph.
Cast members needed include:
• Four men between 17 and 25 years old.
• One male to portray a character between 28 and 33 years old.
• One female to portray a character between 20 and 25 years old.
• One young female to portray a character between 12 and 16 years old.
Some — not all —cast members are required to sing and should be prepared to sing at least 16 bars at audition. The woman character does sing.
Rehearsals will be flexible depending upon the cast but approximately three days a week.
“Make it Home” follows the lives of seven people from before World War II, through the war and the war’s end.
Experiences of the home front and having family in the war are discovered by the female characters while the experiences of joining, serving, fighting and of the war’s end are shared by the five men.
The experiences portrayed in the play are real accounts of many men and women who lived and served during the war.
They have been minimally edited for dramatic purposes. The play is both humorous and dramatic. Each character’s journey is compelling. The play was written by “Lest We Forget.”
