Borgess-Lee Hospital gets ‘Gold Seal’

Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital has earned The Joint Commissions Gold Seal of Approval® for health care quality and safety.

The accreditation status demonstrates Borgess-Lees compliance with The Joint Commissions national standards for health care quality and safety in hospitals.

The accreditation award recognizes Borgess-Lees dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commissions state-of-the-art standards.

“With Joint Commission accreditation, Borgess-Lee continues its significant investment in day- to-day quality throughout our health ministry,” said John Ryder, chief operating officer, Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital. “Achieving Joint Commission accreditation is a major step toward maintaining excellence at Borgess-Lee, while continually improving the way we connect with people at many different levels to foster an environment for better healing.”

The Joint Commission sends expert surveyors to visit hospitals to conduct on-site surveys to evaluate compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients.

Those evaluations include infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management. The Joint Commissions hospital standards are developed in consultation with health care experts, providers, measurement experts and patients.

“In achieving Joint Commission accreditation, Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital demonstrates its continuing commitment to achieving the highest level of care for its patients,” said Mark Pelletier, MS, RN, executive director, Hospital Programs, Accreditation and Certification Services, The Joint Commission. “Accreditation is a voluntary process. I commend Borgess-Lee for successfully undertaking this challenge to elevate its standard of care and instill confidence in the community it serves.”

Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission is the nations oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization that evaluates and accredits more than 20,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States.
