Annual business expo highlights the best of Niles, Buchanan

More than 60 businesses will be featured and several prizes will be given away during the fifth annual EXPOsing Greatness business expo Thursday at Buchanan High School.

A collaboration between several southwest Michigan businesses and organizations, EXPOsing Greatness serves as a showcase of the many different companies located in the cities of Niles and Buchanan.

“It is a way for area businesses to get to know and learn about each other,” said Tyanna Weller, CEO of Four Flags Area Chamber of Commerce. “It’s also a really great opportunity to show the public all the wonderful things that our community has to offer.”

Admission is free and the public is welcome.

People can network, learn more about local products and services, sample food provided by local restaurants and enter to win prizes from 4 to 7 p.m. at the school, located at 401 W. Chicago St., Buchanan.

“It’s a place for people to learn about what is available to them — even things they didn’t know were there,” Weller said.

Last year the event was held at Niles High School. Prior to that, it took place at Lake Michigan College’s Bertrand Campus.

Weller said organizers plan to rotate the venue between the three public schools in the Niles-Buchanan area — Niles, Buchanan and Brandywine Community Schools.

A portion of funds generated through exhibitor registration fees goes toward three scholarships that are awarded annually to students at Niles, Buchanan and Brandywine.

Weller said exhibitor space sold out two weeks prior to the event. There are 67 total vendors.

The expo is presented by the Four Flags Area Chamber of Commerce, Buchanan Area Chamber of Commerce, Lake Michigan College at Bertrand Crossing, Southwester Michigan Economic Growth Alliance, Leader Publications and Buchanan Community Schools.
