Don Myers, 87

Don Myers, 87, of Edwardsburg, passed to his rest as the result of a two vehicle accident early Saturday morning, Feb. 16, 2013 on M-62, just north of Hess Road.

He was born Dec. 21, 1925 in Mishawaka, the son of Vern Porter and Gertrude (Metcalf) Myers and lived in the Michiana area all of his life.

Don was employed with the Bayer Corp. before his retirement. He had lived in Niles before moving to Edwardsburg, around three years ago. He served in the United States Navy, during WW II.

Family members who have passed, are his parents, his wife Alice Temple, and his brothers, Bob Myers, Vern Myers, and Glenn ‘Joe’ Myers, as well as sisters, Jean Bill and Mary Lou Siakowski.

Surviving are his children, Vern Myers (Jean Rinehart) of Niles, Rick (Georgann) Temple of Edwardsburg, Ronald (Pamela) Temple of Louisville, Ky., and Paul (Chris) Temple of Maryland, as well as a daughter, Donna Myers of Gobles. There are two sisters, Joyce Collmer of Jensen Beach, Fla. and Joann Davis of Elkhart, Ind.. There are several grandchildren and many great- grandchildren, along with loving nieces and nephews.

According to Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. at  the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 W. Main St., Edwardsburg, where family and friends may gather from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Jeff Reese, pastor of Hope United Methodist Church, Edwardsburg. The United States Navy Honor Guard will have military rites at the funeral home, of playing taps and folding the American Flag. Arrangements are by the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home.
