Salon plans annual ‘Clip for the Cure’

Fiesta Salon’s annual Clip for the Cure benefiting breast cancer research takes place Saturday, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Manager Melissa Fisher has been with the salon at 30 E. Main St. in Riverfront Square for four months, so this will be her first Clip for the Cure, which “fights breast cancer one haircut at a time.”

More than 7,400 Regis corporate salons across North America host events.

Since 1991, Regis corporate stylists have raised more than $9 million to support breast cancer research.

Fisher said two of Fiesta’s three stylists will be working Oct. 13.

Customers can make appointments at 683-9764, or they accept walk-ins.

Breast cancer ranks as the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in women, according to the American Cancer Society, but there are more than 2.5 million survivors.

There will be 226,870 new cases of invasive breast cancer diagnosed in women in 2012.

Fisher said an assortment of awareness products will be available, such as travel cups, bracelets and scarves, or, for a dollar, magnets.
