Weber to remain YMCA’s CEO

After conducting a national search, the Niles-Buchanan YMCA Board of Directors has selected Mark Weber as the new CEO.

Since joining the YMCA in July as interim CEO, Weber jumped right in to lead the YMCA staff and volunteers in efforts to improve internal functions and actively pursue new initiatives.

“Our goal is to expand the Y’s presence beyond our facility and more effectively partner with schools and other community groups to increase our outreach to youth, family and community members,” said Weber in a released statement.

The YMCA’s Board of Directors is pleased with Mark’s leadership and the new directions the Y is taking.

“Mark is a strategic thinker whose experience in finance and organizational growth made him the outstanding candidate to lead the Y. He has demonstrated his abilities and his commitment to the Y’s mission and core values over the last seven months as Interim CEO,” said Sara Bell, board president. “His passion, along with his business acumen, and ties to the Niles-Buchanan community made him an ideal candidate.”

Mark has a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Michigan University and an MBA from Indiana University. His career up until now centered on nonprofit credit unions.

“I am honored to be part of this great organization. It is very rewarding both personally and professionally,” he said.

The Niles-Buchanan YMCA has more than 10,300 members and employs over 125 people who are dedicated to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Thanks to the Y’s donors and the commitment of hundreds of volunteers, everyone is welcome and no child or family is turned away from the Niles-Buchanan Y because of the inability to pay.
