Eighteen foursomes competed in the 20th and final Behnke Memorial Golf Tournament July 13 at Spruce Ridge Golf Course.

Heidi Behnke said the event raised more than $2,060, as it usually does.

It has fully funded three Southwestern Michigan College scholarships in memory of her and sister Tracy Mikes’ mother, Helen; brother, David; and dog, Love.

That scholarship is intended to assist someone interested in working with animals.

Three teams tied for first, with pro Chris Foote deciding in favor of a Grand Rapids foursome.

Patrick Hamilton Elementary School teacher Kelly Knapp won the 50/50, donating her $319 back to the tournament.

The tournament also took place at the Elks and Diamond Lake in Cassopolis during the years.

“I’m happy,” Heidi said Tuesday. “The weather was perfect.”

Heidi and her husband, Ron Matthews, are expecting their first child Aug. 16.
