Two people allegedly involved in last week’s shooting on Carberry Road in Howard Township are facing up to life in prison.

Anthony Quintel Bostic, 21, and Kayla Marie Johnson, 21, both of South Bend, Ind., were arraigned in Cass County Court Tuesday, each on more than 30 felony counts, including conspiracy to commit assault with intent to murder. That charge carries a penalty of life or any number of years in prison, and a $10,000 fine.

Both are being held in Cass County Jail. Judge Stacey Rentfrow placed a $500,000 bond on Bostic and a $300,000 bond on Johnson Tuesday.

Police apprehended Bostic and Johnson Friday evening at a residence in the 1600 block of South Marine Street in South Bend.

On Thursday, police responded to a report of a shooting at 872 Carberry Rd., near Hatcherville Park, in Cass County.

No one was injured in the shooting. Officers indicated an argument occurred in the yard of the residence and that one person involved had walked to the car in which he had arrived, pulled out a handgun and began shooting at a number of individuals in the yard.

Court documents show six people were allegedly targeted for assault with intent to murder by Bostic and Johnson.

Within a few hours of the shooting, police released a statement naming Bostic and Johnson as possibly being involved in the shooting.

St. Joseph attorney Peter Johnson is representing Kayla Johnson. He said at Tuesday’s bond hearing Kayla has no prior convictions.

Rentfrow told the court Bostic has twice been convicted of delivering and manufacturing cocaine in Berrien County, once in 2008 and once in 2009.

Both are scheduled back in court Sept. 12.
