Mill Pond tourney raises $2,249

The Second Annual Mill Pond Improvement Association Fishing Tournament was another huge success.
The tournament, held June 23, raised $2,249 for the association, which maintains the dam and will use part of the proceeds for weed control on the pond in the future according to acting association president Don Wolford.
The tournament featured divisions for bass, bluegill, crappie and carp.
This year’s winners were:
• First place: Tyler Wade and Jacob Nolke – most combined weight in carp (33 pounds)
• Second place: Mark Barret Jr. and Greg Schonbok, most combined weight in carp (15.2 pounds)
• First place: Mike Polly and Matt Phillips – heaviest bass (3.2 pounds)
• Second place: Dennis Ferrier Jr. and Jeffrey Davies – heaviest bass (2.8 pounds)
• First place: Jim and Linda O’Konski – longest bluegill (7 and 3/4 inches)
• Second place: Brad and Robert Bundy – longest bluegill (7 and 1/2 inches)
• First place: Brent Reeves and Doug Sebasty – longest crappie (10 and 5/8 inches)
• Second place: Jim and Linda O’Konski – longest crappie (10 and 1/4 inches)
First place winners received $100, which was donated by Heddon Museum, Wolford Electric, Lyons Industries and Wilson’s Farrier Services
Second place winners received $50, which was donated by Lyons Industries, Matthews Real Estate and Haley’s Septic Services.
James Hough won the grand prize drawing of a Motorguide 40 trolling motor, which was donated by the Mill Pond Improvement Association.
