First time was the charm for Christine Hoffman, owner of Niles Styles, a boutique women’s clothing store in downtown Niles.

Hoffman’s shop won first place in the Four Flags Area Apple Festival’s annual window decorating contest, sponsored by Caldwell Banker.

Hoffman said it was her first time entering the contest.

Hoffman received a traveling trophy filled with fresh apples, a ribbon and $50 prize.

The Four Flags Antique Mall finished second and Leader Publications took third place.

Judging took place Thursday.
