VanDenBerg Invitational set for Saturday

Niles and Brandywine will once again host the VanDenBerg Invitational Saturday.

The opening round matches will be played at Niles High School and Brandywine High School. The championship match will be held at Niles and the consolation at Brandywine.

In the first round, Brandywine will host Cassopolis at 10 a.m., while Niles will host Buchanan at 10 a.m.

The championship and consolation matches are scheduled to begin at noon.

Admission is $5 per person.

Matches will consist of two 30-minute halves with no overtime. A shootout will be used for the tiebreaker if needed.

Last year, Buchanan defeated Niles 3-1 in the championship game. It was the first title for the Bucks since 2006.

In reaching the title match, Buchanan defeated Brandywine and Niles defeated Cassopolis.
