Motorcyclist in critical condition after being ejected

A Jones man who ejected from his motorcycle after striking a truck pulling a trailer in Newberg Township Thursday evening is in critical condition.

Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. said that Cass County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a personal injury traffic crash on M-60 near Bair Lake Street in Newberg Township  at approximately 6 p.m.

Dustin Lynn Hetmansperger, 58, of Three Rivers was pulling a utility trailer with his vehicle and was turning into a private driveway when the trailer was struck by a motorcycle.

Thomas Lee Clark, 59, of Jones was the driver of the motorcycle. Clark was ejected from his cycle and was not wearing a helmet. Clark was Air lifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for his injuries.

Clark is critical condition. Hetmansperger was not injured. The crash remains under investigation.

Deputies were assisted on scene by Newberg Fire and Ambulance, Life Care Ambulance and Med Flight.
