Cass, Edwardsburg pass millage renewals

Cassopolis and Edwardsburg were both able to pass renewal millages Tuesday.

The Cassopolis renewal passed 274-112.

The Edwardsburg renewal passed 256-113.

Cassopolis was asking voters to renew 18 mills for its operating budget.

This renewal is for non-homestead property and is for a five-year period (2014-18).

The renewal of the 18 mills would bring the district approximately $3 million for its operating costs over that five-year period.

Edwardsburg was also asking for 18 mills for operating funds, which would be levied on non-homestead and non-qualified agricultural property.
