What do you get when you retire after 10 years serving as the president and CEO of the Four Flags Area Chamber of Commerce?

Ron Sather got his own day — and a lot of well wishes.

Niles Mayor Mike McCauslin declared Wednesday, June 26 as the official Ronald J. Sather Day during Wednesday’s chamber after hours dinner at Signal Point Country Club.

“The greater Four Flags Community has indeed been fortunate to have his unlimited devotion, not only to our business community, but to the City of Niles and our surrounding communities,” McCauslin said.

Nearly 100 people showed up to the dinner, including State Sen. John Proos, R-St. Joseph, and Clay McCausland, representing Congressman Fred Upton.

Proos and McCausland presented Sather with a plaque containing a special tribute from the State of Michigan signed by Proos, Upton, Rep. Dave Pagel and Gov. Rick Snyder.

“We are truly grateful for all that Ron ahs contributed in making Southwestern Michigan a better place to live, work and raise a family,” said Proos, reading from the tribute.
Sather’s last day with the chamber is Friday.

Tyanna Weller, former executive director of St. Joseph Today, was hired June 10 as the new president and CEO.
