Nobles wins another crown

SOUTH HAVEN – Chris Noble chalked up another tournament championship Tuesday afternoon.

Noble, who has won his age group all six years he has been playing in the tournament, captured the Michigan Junior Majors Tour title at its stop at Hawkshead Golf Links in South Haven.

After shooting an opening round 72 on Monday to take a one-stroke lead into the final round, Noble followed that up with a 73 and a two-day total of 145.

Bay City’s Jeremy Schultz, who trailed Noble by a stroke on Monday, shot 74 on Tuesday and finished second with a 147.

Matthew Zerbel of St. Joseph (148), Brian Baum of Hastings (150), Brian Anderson of Vicksburg (154) rounded out the top five.

Niles’ Alec DeJonge, just 12-year-old, finished with two-day total of 161, while John Schrader finished with a 166.

DeJonge finished second in his age group.

Metro Niles finished second in the team competition with a total of 462.

Stevensville’s Sutton Dunwoodie was the fourth member of the Niles team and he finished with a 157.

Metro Wild Card won the team title after finishing with a 457.

Metro Kalamazoo shot 468 and Metro St. Joseph finished with a 481.
