Brandywine’s Duncan reaches regional final

SOUTH BEND — Kalamazoo Christian and Paw Paw advance to the state tennis finals after finishing 1-2 at the Division 4 Regional at Leeper Park Thursday.

The Comets scored 26 points to easily win the regional title. Paw Paw finished with 19 points. Berrien Springs just missed qualifying with a third place finish and 16 points. The top two teams, plus any team that scores 18 or more points advances to the state tournament.

Brandywine placed fifth with 12 points, Buchanan seventh with three points and Dowagiac eighth with two points.

The Bobcats’ Kyle Duncan reached the No. 4 singles finals, but was defeated by Cordell Engbers of Kalamazoo Christian 6-0 and 6-1.

Berrien Springs’ Rick Fedoruk was named Regional Coach of the Year.
