Adam Kendall, a 2012 Edwardsburg High School graduate recently graduated from Marine Corp. Reserve boot camp.

Kendall, who currently attends Grand Valley State University in Allendale, joined the Marines and left for boot camp May 20.

He graduated from boot camp Aug. 16 with honors as a platoon guide, who is in charge of the platoon and is second in command only to the drill instructors.

Kendall was in charge of 56 other recruits, which meant he had to make sure they were ready for drill, ready to eat, ready for sleep and doing their job right at all times.

He was platoon guide 11 out of the 12 weeks of boot camp. He was the only guide to score a perfect 300 on the physical fitness test.

Kendall is a Private 1st Class with the India Company, 3rd Battalion Platoon 3210 in San Diego, Calif.
