Dowagiac athletic physical June 7 at DMS

Athletic physicals will be given Thursday, June 7 at Dowagiac Middle School.

All students, grades seven through 12, must have an athletic physical on file if they want to participate in sports for the upcoming school year.

No appointment is needed. Athletes whose last names begins with the letters A-L will be given physicals from 2:30 until 4:30 p.m. and those with the letters M-Z will be given physicals from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m.

Cost is $15, which is payable at the time of the physical. Athletes must bring a completed physical form with them. They are available at Dowagiac Middle School, Dowagiac Union High School or the athletic office.

A parent or guardian must attend the physical. No physicals will be given without one. Athletes are also asked to bring their current immunization records. The health department will be available to evaluate shot records.

Immunizations will be available to students who need vaccines and do not have any health insurance, insurance that does not cover vaccines, enrolled in Medicaid or Native American or Alaskan Native.

Athletes are asked to wear loose-fitting clothing. Shorts and a T-shirt are ideal.

The physicals will be given by the staff of Borgess-Lee Pediatrics.
