Dorothy Jean Waclawik

Dorothy Jean Waclawik, 77, of Edwardsburg, formerly of Mesa, Ariz., passed to her rest Oct. 23, 2012, at Buchanan Meadows, Buchanan, after an illness.

She was born July 6, 1935, in Mayville, N.D., the daughter of Spencer and Gladys (Schieldohl) Brovold and moved here just this year.

Dorothy was married Sept. 18, 1954, in Page, N.D., to Peter L. Waclawik. He passed in 2003.

Surviving are their children, Kathy Griffin of Elkhart, Marsha Welle (and her fiancé, Kevin Marling) of Edwardsburg, Patricia (Bob) Hunlin of Cleburne, Texas, Yvonne (David) Ragsdale of Edwardsburg, Steven Waclawik and Wayne Waclawik, both of Mesa.

There are 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, as well as a sister, Linda (Steve) Schmid of Mesa and a brother, Bruce Brovold of Fargo, N.D.

Family who have passed are her husband, Peter; her parents; and two brothers, Tommy and Jerry Brovold.

Dorothy was a homemaker, and she worked for a short while at the public school in Arizona doing cooking.

She enjoyed cooking, camping, sewing, arts and crafts and quilting.

Family and friends may gather Saturday, Oct. 27, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 W. Main St. (U.S. 12) in Edwardsburg. There will a service of remembrance at 3 p.m. conducted by Father Joe McCormick, pastor of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.

Cremation will follow the service and cremation. Interment will be in a national veterans cemetery in Arizona by her late husband, Peter.
