Christine M. Groves, 71

Christine M. Groves, 71, of Marcellus, passed away March 24, 2013.

She was born in Dowagiac June 11, 1941, the daughter of the late John and Nina (Burroughs) Ranieri. Christine was a lifetime resident of southwest Michigan. She was the mother of two, and had spent the last 23 years by the side of her companion Fred Hartman, who survives.

Christine was an active person who enjoyed rock collecting, lighthouses, the ocean and traveling. She was always willing to help others and was a hard worker. After hurricane Katrina hit, she took the time to get licensed and help Fred drive trailers to New Orleans. She was a long time employee of Continental Can in Three Rivers. She was kind and gentle, with a great personality.

She also leaves to cherish her memory two children, Joe (Jovan) Groves, and Tina (Mark) Frey; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; three siblings, Gina (Mark) Wiggins, Mary (Tom) Westgate, Moe (Dar) Ranieri; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great friends. She was also preceded in passing by a sibling, John Ranieri.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Marcellus Fire Department. Memories and condolences may be left at www.avinkcremation.com.
