Niles man arrested in fatal hit and run

Six months after Niles pedestrian Charles Edward Lintz was struck and killed by a vehicle on Michigan Highway 60 in Howard Township, an arrest has been made in the case.

Kory Bridges, 26, of Niles, turned himself in after the Cass County Prosecutor’s office issued a warrant for his arrest Friday.

Bridges, who bonded out, is scheduled to be arraigned in Cass County Fourth District Court Nov. 21 on the charge of failing to stop at the scene of a fatal accident — a five-year felony.

According to a Michigan State Police report, Lintz, 50, was struck and killed by a vehicle heading east on M-60 near Lilac Avenue in Cass County at around 9:20 p.m. April 29.

The driver of the vehicle — Bridges — fled the scene, but turned himself in to authorities the morning after the incident.

An extensive investigation followed, leading to the prosecutor’s office issuing a warrant for Bridges’ arrest last week.

“Ultimately the completed report showed sufficient grounds for the authorization of the indicated charge,” said Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz.
