Burglary suspects apprehended

Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports his office, with assistance of Dowagiac police, apprehended two suspects in a commercial burglary in Silver Creek Township, just north of the city.
At approximately 9:27 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, Cass County Central Dispatch received information about a burglary in progress at a business on M-51 North of Dowagiac.
The caller gave a detailed description of the suspects’ travel on bikes with backpacks.
While deputies were en route, they were advised that Dowagiac police had two subjects stopped matching the description.
After deputies met with the victim to determine items taken — office supplies, printer, tools, etc., they found the same items on the suspects detained by Dowagiac police.
Deputies reported they were able to obtain a confession from the suspects charged with breaking and entering of a business.
They were to be arraigned in Fourth District Court in Cassopolis Wednesday.
Suspects from this incident are not, however, believed to be involved in residential burglaries reported in the past month, the Sheriff’s Office said. Cass County Sheriff’s Office is still requesting that citizens be aware of their neighborhood and report suspicious subjects and vehicles to (269) 445-1560.
