81 set to graduate from Brandywine Sunday

The 51st commencement ceremony for the Brandywine High School Class of 2013 will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Brandywine Middle/Senior High School.

Eighty-one students are scheduled to graduate.

Honored guest Janice A. VanDyken will address the class. VanDyken is a member of the Brandywine Class of 1963, the school’s first graduating class.

Principal Patrick Weckel will welcome the class. Dennis Cooper, school board president, will handle remarks and Supt. John Jarpe will provide the introductions.

Three students will give commencement addresses: Mackenzie Shelton, co-valedictorian; Michael Shelton, co-valedictorian; and Alex Ulrickson, salutatorian.

Mackenzie Shelton will also lead the turning of the tassels.

Five seniors will be graduating with associate’s degrees obtain through Lake Michigan College: Caitlyn Cummins, Alissa Gamble, Patience Newman, Brenten Schau and Mariah Srmek.
