Bement retires from nursing

Julie Bement, a registered nurse, retired June 30 after 33 years of service at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital.

Bement joined Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital as an RN in Pediatrics and later became a change nurse in 2N on the 3 to 11 p.m. shift.

“Julie has been a true professional and valuable member of our team,” said Jean Brosnan, supervisor, Medical Surgical-SCU-Oncology at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital. “Our patients always were in great hands whenever Julie was around, and she will be missed.”

Her plans for retirement include spending more time with her family.

“There are four generations now living on our family farm,” Bement said. “So there will always be something going on.”
Bement said she’ll miss her colleagues and patients the most.

“I have gotten to know some great people over the years,” she said. “My time at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital has been an incredible experience, and I will always cherish Christmas parties and summer picnics with my colleagues and our wonderful experiences as a team.”
