The Niles boys and girls track teams split with visiting Portage Northern and Kalamazoo Central in a SMAC West Division meet Tuesday.

The Viking boys team lost to the Huskies 115-48, but defeated the Maroon Giants 88-72. Portage Northern defeated Kalamazoo Central 105-57.

The Niles girls team lost to Portage Northern 92-65, but defeated Kalamazoo Central 95-59. The Huskies defeated the Giants 104-56.

The Niles 400- and 800-meter relays teams both picked up victories in the girls meet.

The team of Maya Brookins, Antonia Palmer, Elyse Zimmerman and Taylor Glenn posted a time of 53.64 in the 400-meters, while Brookins, Paige Chaffin, Lashonda Green and Zimmerman ran a time of 1:51.20 in the 800-meters.

Abby Smith was also a winner in the pole vault with a height of 7-6. Ashley Love won the long jump with a leap of 14-10, while Emma Doud won the shot put with a toss of 31-8. Kara Smith won the discus with a throw of 80-7.5.

The only first place finish for the boys team came in the shot put where Derek Scott won with a distance of 45-2. Balaj Bruckner helped Niles to a one, two finish with a throw of 44-3.
