Salvation Army offering annual backpack program

The Niles Salvation Army is offering its annual Back to School Backpacks Program beginning now.

The program is for children in grades 1-12. Backpacks will be pre-packed with age- appropriate school materials, including notebook paper, pens, pencils, crayons, glue and more. The items are available thanks to community donations.

In order to participate, go to the Niles Salvation Army, 424 N. 15th St., Niles, between the hours of 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.

Bring identification for the custodial parent or guardian, Social Security cards for all children and proof of which school the children will be attending in the fall.

Backpacks will be distributed at a later date to be announced.

This service is available to Niles, Buchanan and Cass County residents.
