Niles dominates Division 2 All-District team

Despite not winning the championship, Niles dominated the Division 2 All-District team.

The Vikings landed six players on the all-district squad, which is the first step in the all-state process.

District champion Paw Paw had four players named to the team, while Edwardsburg had three players selected.

Paw Paw’s Brittany Reist, a former Dowagiac all-stater, was named Coach of the Year.

The Chieftains had one player, catcher Kourtney Mitchell, selected.

Named to the team for Niles were Olivia Jordan (outfield), Jordan Rank (outfield), Megan McKeel (first base), Makenzie Shields (shortstop), Tala Gentry (pitcher) and Courtney Ankrapp (at-large).

Kaley Frank (third base), McKenzie Creed (designated player) and Layne Stinnett (utility) represent the Eddies.

Dowagiac was selected for the sportsmanship award.
