L. Kay James, 60

Lila Kay James, 60, of Boerne, Texas, formerly of Edwardsburg and Elkhart, Ind., passed to her rest on Feb. 9, 2013 at Methodist Hospital of San Antonio, Texas after an illness.

She was born April 8, 1952 in Edwardsburg, the daughter of Thurman Sr. and Maxine (Bell) James.

Kay was a graduate of Edwardsburg High School and she worked as a laboratory technician for the South Bend Medical Foundation, Elkhart General Hospital, and lastly for Stanbio in Boerne, Texas.

Kay is survived by her son, Ronald (Julie) Harrell of Goshen and by two grandsons, Carson Harrell of Canton, Ohio and Hunter Harrell of Goshen, Ind. Kay has two sisters and two brothers surviving her, they are; Nancy James of Niles, Mary Ann James of Debray, Florida, Ralph A.  James of Florida and John (Pat) James of South Bend. She also has many nieces and nephews surviving her. Family that has passed, are her parents, two brothers, Thurman James Jr. and Richard L. Norman and twin infant sisters, Sharon and Karen James.

Family and friends may gather Saturday at 12:30 p.m. for a graveside Memorial Service at 1 p.m. at Smith’s Chapel Cemetery, located at 29858 Redfield Rd., east of Niles in Milton Township. Kay will be placed by her parents in Smith’s Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cass County Cancer Services, P.O. Box 676, Edwardsburg, Michigan  49112-0676.

Arrangements are by the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home in Edwardsburg.
