Beatrice Elizabeth Huss, 89, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2020.

She was born June 8, 1930, in Perham, Minnesota, to the late Leon Paul and Barbara Helen (Bucholz) Kunza.

Bea attended Morehead Teacher’s College in Minnesota and earned her bachelor’s degree from there. She worked as a teaching assistant at both Dowagiac Schools and Portage Public Schools. Bea was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, as well as the Portage-Schoolcraft Eagles where she was a chaplain for years. She enjoyed gardening and visiting with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldred John “E.J.” Huss, on Sept. 27, 1992; her parents; sister, Dolores Breher; and brother, Paul Kunza.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Huss, of Kalamazoo, and Patti Frontczak, of Dowagiac; son, Robert Huss, of Fruitport; grandchildren, Anna Ketchum (Buzz Martensen), Sandi Frontczak (Carlos Matias), Kathi (Tom Redner) Frontczak, Joseph (Syndey) Huss and Michael Huss; five great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A private prayer service will be hosted for her family.

Bea will be laid to rest with her husband in Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
