Teresa A. (Rice) Olbrich, 79, Rockford, passed away Friday, May 1, 2020, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center due to complications from COVID-19.

She was born April 4, 1941, in Niles, the daughter of Edward and Ruth (Phillips) Phelps.

Teresa was a graduate of Western Michigan University with a degree in education. She taught the GED/ESL program at Rock Valley College for many years and then taught at the Literacy Council before retiring.

Teresa enjoyed antiquing with her daughter, Suzannah. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at OSF St. Antony Medical Center for their kind and compassionate care during her illness.

Survived by her daughter, Suzannah (Matt) Young, of Rockford; her grandson, Nicholas; also, H. Jake Olbrich, Cherry Valley and his family, Gail Olbrich, Dan Olbrich and Kyle Masteller; and Nate Rice, of Harbor Springs; her niece, Kimberly Troutman.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her brother, Steve Phelps.

There will be a celebration of life gathering at a later date.
