Delores A. Whitson, 75, of Sister Lakes, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019, at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.

A celebration of life service will be at noon Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, with Pastor Richard Kiser officiating. Burial will follow at Keeler Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Delores was born Aug. 25, 1944, in Benton Harbor, to Arthur and June (Teale) Fietz. She graduated from Dowagiac High School in 1962.

On Oct. 13, 1963, she married the late Bill Whitson in Benton Harbor. Delores worked for USDA Farm Service Agency as a loan assistant for more than 35 years before her retirement. She was an avid NASCAR fan and also enjoyed watching motorcycle racing. In her spare time, she loved scrapbooking. Most of all, she loved her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Delores is survived by her daughters, Pam (Dewayne) Whitaker and Mindy Heroy; grandchildren, Heather Abiney, Ryan Abiney, Aaron Dennison, Charles Bloomer III, and Casie Stewart; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Serenity, Cameron and Dexter; sister, Marilyn (Bob) Steiner; best-friend, Kim Rochefort; special dogs, Max and Roxy; and favorite cat, Hilda.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Whitson and grandchild Trinety.
