Ruby Maggert is a sophomore on the Dowagiac golf team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
RM: Shooting under 60 by my sophomore year.

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
RM: Shooting over 120 for 18 holes.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
RM: My dad, because he continues to do what he loves every day, even if it is hard.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
RM: Having to play with girls I don’t know.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
RM: Getting in the sand trap and not being able to get out.
How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?
RM: When I am by myself I tend to work best.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
RM: I would like to play volleyball.
Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?
RM: If you don’t play sports in high school, then you won’t be able to know the feeling of having a family you can go to at any time.
How would you give away $50,000?
RM: If I had $50,000 to give away, I would give it to a sports team without the appropriate equipment.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
RM: Cheerleading.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
RM: Be more involved with school clubs.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
RM: Not being afraid to try new things.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
RM: That we have to be quiet.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
RM: That I have a lot of potential to go for in college.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
RM: Play with the No. 1 girls at a match. Yes, I am.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
RM: Watching my friend who is new at golf shooting her best this past week.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
RM: Going out to play golf with family, because it is fun and soothing.
