Cade Vota is a freshman on the Niles baseball team.

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

CV: Catching and calling a no-hitter in my first varsity game.

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

CV: Getting in my own head and costing the team the game.

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

CV: My parents and grandparents. They are always there for me when I need them and they love me no matter what. They show me how to be the best I can be.

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

CV: Making several errors in a single game.

How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?

CV: I do agility, footwork, preset blocks, transitions, reactions and strength work that varies.

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

CV: Lacrosse.

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

CV: Have fun and don’t take things for granted.

How would you give away $50,000?

CV: I’d buy myself and family a nice gift.

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

CV: Pittsburgh Pirates.

If I did not play sports, I would…?

CV: Still be the same guy I am today, just have a lot more free time to myself.

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

CV: Blocking fastballs way outside or inside.

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

CV: They have to steal at the same point in the at-bat.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

CV: That I was a “class act” and I played the game right.

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

CV: Bumping up several age groups for travel. Yes, it pushed me to be better.

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

CV: A kid going out of his way to be friends with the new kid at school and making him feel welcome.

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

CV: Spending time with friends and family because we all grow up and we have to enjoy it while we still can.
