Margaret Jean “Peach” Lawson, 78, of Cassopolis, died peacefully Monday, March 5, 2018, in the comfort of her family’s presence at Cass County Medical Care Facility in Cassopolis.

She was born March 7, 1939, in Cassopolis, to John and Marvine Voss. Marvine later married Lyle Brown who raised Peach with her mother.

She married Emery “Bill” Eugene Lawson on Aug. 18, 1957, in Dowagiac. He survives.

Peach was a homemaker and babysitter, raising a multitude of children from the community. The children she helped raised now live from coast to coast. She was known as Granny Peach.

Peach will be greatly missed by family and friends and the children she raised through babysitting. She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Emery “Bill” Lawson; one daughter, Donna (Dennis) Dominiak; three sons, Dennis Lawson, Danny Lawson, David (Keli) Lawson; eight grandchildren, Dawn Dominiak, Dustin (Jeanette) Dominiak, Tori Lawson, Dillon Lawson, Chandler Lawson, Hali (Isaiah) Lawson Ortiz, Destiny Lawson, Hunter Lawson; six great grandchildren; one sister, Hazel (John) Snyder; one brother, James “Jim” Brown; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Peach was preceded in death by her parents; Douglas (son); Nolan Lawson (grandson); and Richard Brown (brother).

Family and friends will gather from 1 p.m. until a time of service at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018, in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis, with Pastor Larry Settle officiating.

Peach will be laid to rest in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Cassopolis immediately following the service.

The family prefers contributions in Peach’s memory be made to Cass County Medical Care Facility, 23770 Hospital Street, Cassopolis, Michigan 49031.
