Michele “Micki” Rene DeLay Bowman passed into the next phase of existence on Feb. 18, 2018, in Muskegon, Michigan, surrounded by loved ones at the age of 57. She was a mother, daughter, sister and breast cancer warrior with a fiercely loving presence who will forever be cherished.

Micki was born on Oct. 5, 1960, in Niles. She graduated from Brandywine High School, where she served as class president in 1979 and continued on to Central Michigan University, where she received her B.A. in Social Science and Elementary Education in 1983. For the last decade, she lived in Charlotte, North Carolina to be near her younger children and had a successful career in the hospitality industry. Her legacy is one of laughter, acceptance, and boundless compassion.

Micki is lovingly remembered by her daughters Noelle, Blair, and Shaun Bowman, her son Charles Bowman and his fiancé Katherine Halik, her mother Linda DeLay, her brother Craig and his wife Stacy DeLay, her niece and nephew Ariana and Devin DeLay, her brother Scott and his wife Missy DeLay, her nephew Jake DeLay, and her partner Richard Alviar. Micki was preceded by her father, Don DeLay.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24 at Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home on 615 E Main St, Niles, followed by refreshments and a visitation at 3 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on 1819 Oak St., Niles, MI 49120.

In lieu of flowers, Micki’s family is collecting donations in her honor to Every Woman’s Place, a non-profit based out of Muskegon, Michigan where Micki previously served.
