Walter Max Martz, 80, of Cassopolis and formerly of Edwardsburg, passed to his rest on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, quickly and gently from a cardiac arrest, while shoveling snow at his home.

He was born June 19, 1937, to parents, Walter D. and Maxine (Johnson) Martz, who have preceded him.

He is survived by his wife Jeane McGrew Martz of 44 years and his son Edward (Keri) Martz of Niles. There are two step-sons Keith (Becky) McGrew of Cassopolis and Gary McGrew (now passed) and Gary’s wife Dianna McGrew of Cassopolis. There are 6 grandchildren, I great grandchild, 7 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters and three brothers; Colleen, Kathy, Ken, Garry and Larry.

Walt was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served in the 1950’s.

He was the former owner of Walt’s Service Station in Edwardsburg. At Walt’s request there will be no funeral services at this time.

However, a Memorial Service will be held in early spring 2018. Arrangements are by the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg, MI.
