Betty Jane Cox, age 92, of Vandalia, Michigan, passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at home.

She was born April 12, 1923, in Dowagiac, Michigan, the daughter of Floyd and Lola (Franklin) Hunsberger. On May 31, 1943 in Bryan, Ohio, she married Richard E. Cox who preceded her in death.

Betty was the township clerk for Penn Township for many years and did bookkeeping for the family farm. She enjoyed working in the yard and traveling and truly enjoyed her grandchildren.

Surviving are three children, Janet Barnett and Michael Cox both of Cassopolis, Michigan, and Mary Nelson of Battle Creek, Michigan; one sister, Marrianne (EJ) Gould of LaGrange, Indiana, one brother, Robert F. (Denise) Hunsberger of Dowagiac; son-in-law Bradley Barnett of Cassopolis; grandchildren Richard (Becky) Cox, Chris (Katie) Barnett, Gary (Rhonda) Barnett, Jessica & Nicholas Byrne, Lynn (Westphal) Cox and Kim (Eric) Hoopes; great-grandchildren, Lila, Christopher, Spencer, Stacey, Kristen, Emily, Matthew, Ambrose, Skyler, Lane, Tiffany Caelan, Hunter, Ellie and Leah and many who called her Grandma. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, son Tom Cox and grandson Darrell Cox.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015, in the Mater-Ralston Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, at the Wakelee United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Little Fish Lake Cemetery.
