Tonya “Nana” Brown, age 50, of Cassopolis, died peacefully, Monday, October 5, 2015, in Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana.

She was born March 8, 1965 in Niles, Michigan, to Cornelius and Judith Ann (Lawson) Williams, Jr. She married Kenneth DeWayne Brown November 21, 1992 in Cassopolis, Michigan. He survives. She was preceded in death by her mother; one daughter, Judith Ann Brown; and one brother, Cornelius “Skeeter” Williams, IV.

Tonya loved her family. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Tonya was an outspoken woman who was not afraid to speak her mind. She would let people know what she thought and felt whether they liked it or not. Tonya was an all around loving person who was supportive of her family. Her family described her as the hardest worker they know.

Tonya will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth D. Brown, Sr. of Cassopolis; three sons, Kenneth D. Brown, Jr. of Grand Rapids, Khalil Brown of Cassopolis, Kentrell Brown of White Pigeon; one grandson, Brayden Brown; her father, Cornelius Williams, Jr. of Cassopolis; three sisters, Elona (Jim) Schmerasal of Arlington, Tennessee, Nyrie (Tommy Wiley) Williams of Cassopolis, Julena (Jeffrey) Brown of Bristol, Indiana; five brothers, Michael Williams of Warsaw, Indiana, Stevie (Tonya) Williams of Dowagiac, Rodrick (Yvonne Rocha) Williams of Niles, Ryan (Shawanda) Williams of Cassopolis, Lonnie Williams of Cassopolis; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, from 11 a.m. until time of service at 12 Noon in Church of Cassopolis, 520 Pearl Street, Cassopolis, with Apostle Christopher J. Pittman officiating.
