Mary E., Frost, 67, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, formerly of Niles, died on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, Michigan following a courageous battle with cancer. Her family is grateful to the staff for the special level of care given.

She was born April 13, 1948, in Three Rivers, Michigan, to Richard Kipt and Dorothy Evah (Lilly) Parmeter.

Mary is survived by her daughter Donna (Tim) Johnson of Niles. She was preceded in death by both her parents and a brother, Ray Christman.

Mary graduated from Niles High School and also attended Michigan State University. She was retired from the United States Postal Service where she worked for the Niles and Stuart locations for 35 years. Mary then returned to school and earned her Nursing Degree in 2008.

She was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1282 in Stuart, Florida Royal Neighbors of America and an avid NASCAR and Cubs fan and an animal lover. She asked for nothing more than, ‘a few kind words,’ loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed deer hunting and perch and bluegill fishing. Her wit and sense of humor brought smiles and laughter to friends and family and she will be greatly missed by many.

The funeral service for Mary E. Frost will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. Edward H. Slate of Faith United Methodist Church in Buchanan officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday.
