Marie J. Lancaster, 87, of Niles, passed away peacefully, on Sunday morning, April 19, 2015 in Warsaw, Indiana.
She was born on November 3, 1927 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Donald F. and Esther (Prcyblski) Cronkhite.

Marie graduated from Greene Township High School class of 1946. She worked for many years as a medical transcriptionist at the former Pawating Hospital in Niles then in the cardiology department of Memorial Hospital in South Bend. On June 26, 1948 Marie married the late Frank R. Lancaster at a ceremony in South Bend, Indiana. Marie was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Niles and was a volunteer for many years at Lakeland Community Hospital. She enjoyed square dancing in her younger years, crafting and mostly spending time with family.
Preceding Marie in death was her parents, her late husband Frank “Zut” Lancaster, her brother Donald Cronkhite and a sister Dolores Miller.
She is survived by four sons; Michael Lancaster of South Bend, Indiana, Patrick (Brenda) Lancaster of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Mark (Sandi) Lancaster of Warsaw, Indiana and John (Julie) Lancaster of Niles, eleven grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She also leaves to remember her, a brother Ronald (Jenny) Cronkhite of Arizona, two sisters Bonnie (Pete) Pica and Ruth (Vernon) Miller of South Bend.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Marie J. Lancaster will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at St. Mark Catholic Church in Niles by the Rev. Thomas King, C.S.C. of the parish assisted by Brother Dennis Meyers, C.S.C. Committal rights will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Niles.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Brown Funeral Home, Niles with the rosary service at 7:30 p.m.
