John ‘Jack’ Shilney, of Dowagiac

John “Jack” Shilney, 73, of Dowagiac, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2015.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Clark Chapel and Cremation Services, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, with Pastor Stacey Wilder of Calvary Bible Church officiating. Friends may visit with the family Saturday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial donations may be made to the family. John was born Dec. 26, 1941, in Chicago, to John J. and Myrtle (Miller) Shilney. He married Margaret DuBrock on Jan. 17, 1965 in Chicago. He proudly served his country for five years while enlisted in the United States Marines.

John was a computer analysis for Cook County and retired in 2001 after 20 plus years of service. He was a friend to many.

John is survived by his children, John “Jack” (Bonnie) Shilney, and James Shilney, both of Chicago; grandchildren, Kiersten, John “Jack”, Brendan, Max, Peyton and Aidan; two brothers, Michael Shilney and Larry Shilney, both of Chicago; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a sister, Barbara Hlivyak; and two brothers Thomas Shilney and Edward “Buddy” Shilney.
