Barbara Jean Wright, 64, Union, passed to her rest on Nov. 28, 2014 at Elkhart Hospice House after an illness.

She was born Jan. 29, 1950 in Rogers City, Michigan, the daughter of Watson and Angeline (Darga) Hentkowski.

Barbara grew up in the Rogers City area and graduated from Rogers City High School. She entered into the United States Air Force in 1976 and while serving, she continued her education, receiving her BS degree in Electronics Technology. Her military career spanned 24 1/2 years, being discharged June 30, 2001 as Chief M/Sgt, USAF, retired. Barbara came to the Union area in 2001, with her sister, Judy Scott, and together they purchased the Union House Bed and Breakfast facility and have been partners in the Union area ever since.

She was a member of the Edwardsburg Chamber of Commerce and the Edwardsburg Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2284.

Barbara is survived by her children; Lisa Ann (Randal) Muszynski of Petosky, Michigan, Leslie Thomas (Pamela) Chojancki of Parksville, Missouri and Samantha (Michael) Wright-Watts of Cathedral City, California.

There are three loving grandchildren: Savanna Chojancki, Joshua Chojancki and Lacy Muszynski. There are surviving brothers and sisters: Raymond (Patricia) Hentkowski of Alpena, Michigan, Judy Scott of Union, Richard Hentkowski of Constantine, Kenneth Hentkowski of Metz, Michigan, Charlene (Don) Sheldon of Traverse City, Joann Wojtaszek of Washington, Michigan, Monica Simmons of Rogers City, Mary Lou (Jeanette) Henderson of Auburn Hills, Milissa (Jeffery) Cornett of Rogers City and Marie (Fred) LaPointe of West Branch, Michigan.

There are many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Family who have passed Barbara in death, are her husband Senior M/Sgt., Robert E. Wright, Jr. USAF and her parents Watson and Angeline.

Family and friends may gather on Dec. 27, 2014, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 24832 US-12, East of Edwardsburg, where a Mass of Christian Burial will take place starting at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Father Joe McCormick, pastor.

Cremation has taken place and her cremains will be interred in the Veterans Administration Cemetery of Riverside, CA, with those of her late husband.
It is requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to any disabled American Veterans organization.

There will be another memorial service in Barbara’s hometown area, on Jan. 24, 2015, at 11 a.m. in St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Metz, Michigan.

Funeral arrangements have been provided by the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 W. Main St., Edwardsburg.
