Reader thankful for Dem’s compassion

Switzerland has the longest life expectancy of any country in the world (the United States is 34th).

Switzerland also has a compulsory health insurance system that is considered by many to be the best in the world. According to Wikipedia, the Swiss system is geared towards the general goals of enhancing general public health and reducing costs while encouraging individual responsibility. Although Republicans won’t admit it, the Affordable Care Act is wonderful. It’s not perfect and it’s not enough, but it’s a huge step in the right direction.

Talk to my friend Tracy, who has a metal plate in her head and works two jobs. Obamacare will cover the cost of the surgery she has been putting off. My working friend Janis also is delighted to have Obamacare. She hasn’t had insurance until now. She has been turned away because of a pre-existing condition. I am thrilled to see their load of stress reduced. Obamacare has made a quality of life difference for them.

Millions of working people have been living beyond their means trying to pay insurance premiums, accepting crippling deductibles and begging pharmacists to identify a less expensive medication than the one they’d been prescribed.

Thank God we have a president who finds this unacceptable, and thank God we have a party that has compassion for the people (and knows the difference between a person and a corporation).
